ENOVIA SmarTeam V5R20 was released for General Availability (GA) in February, 2010. Service Pack 1 was co-released, so effectively it can be considered part of “what’s new” in V5R20. So what is new with Dassault Systemes’ most prevalent PDM platform? New packaging (installation packaging, not the shipping boxes), new viewer capabilities, enhanced CAD support, specific module feature enhancements, and PLMDB support have all been introduced in this version. All in all, there is nothing revolutionary in this release, but there are a lot of significant improvements.

Today, there’s no reason why companies can’t make the switch – it’s just a matter of taking the time and having the willpower to do it. One of the new tools in SolidWorks Enterprise PDM (EPDM) 2010 is the automated EPDM Task Tool. This tool helps users and system administrators automate a number of things related to Engineering output. With the tool, you can create renditions (alternate format/presentation of content) of SolidWorks Parts, Assemblies, or Drawings.
